Tobias Dias is a scholar, writer, editor, and cultural producer based in Aarhus, Denmark. He received his PhD from the Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas at Aarhus University in 2021. Since 2022, he has been employed as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Art History at Aarhus University. From 2022 to 2024, he was a Novo Nordisk Mads Øvlisen Postdoctoral Fellow. From 2024 to 2027, he is a New Carlsberg Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Aarhus University and Museum Jorn. Since 2023 he has also been a Lecturer at Jutland Art Academy. He has been a visiting research fellow at Freie Universität Berlin at the Peter Szondi Institute of Comparative Literature (2019) and at the University of Oslo at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas (2024). His writings (single- and co-authored) have appeared in journals and magazines like e-flux journal, Texte zur Kunst, The Nordic Journal of Aesthetics, kritische berichte, New German Critique (forthcoming), and Third Text (forthcoming). He co-edited the book En anden økologi: Antikapitalistisk håndbog (Another Ecology: Anti-capitalist Handbook), published by Antipyrine 2025. The monograph, Elements of Revolution: A Prehistory of Artistic Research, is forthcoming from Minor Composition.
He is a co-editor of the Nordic Journal of Aesthetics, and a member of the extradisciplinary collective Organ of the Autonomous Sciences. In 2023 he curated the program series Experts of the Undercommons at the art space Kunsthal Aarhus. For more on this project see here. With friends, he runs the art space Æsken in Aarhus.
