Tobias Dias is a scholar, writer, editor, and cultural producer based in Aarhus, Denmark. He received his PhD from the Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas at Aarhus University in 2021. Since 2022 he has been employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Art History (Aarhus University). He is also a Lecturer at Jutland Art Academy. He has been a visiting scholar at Freie Universität Berlin (2019) and the University of Oslo (2024). His writings (single- and co-authored) have appeared in journals and magazines like e-flux journal, Art-Agenda, Texte zur Kunst, Periskop, ARKEN Bulletin, kritische berichte, and in several anthologies. At the moment he is completing a book manuscript on the prehistory of “artistic research”, among other things.
He is co-editor of the Nordic Journal of Aesthetics. He is also a member of the extradisciplinary collective Organ of the Autonomous Sciences. In 2023 he curated the program series Experts of the Undercommons at the art space Kunsthal Aarhus. For more on this project see here.
